Unani tradition considers that levels of “bad” cholesterol can be moderated by taking care not to overload the liver with an excess of unhealthy fats. In doing so, the liver remains able to perform its role of converting fats into cholesterol and maintaining the balance between “good” and “bad” cholesterol in the blood. For Unani tradition, excess fats (triglycerides) are just as important as excess cholesterol.
