The Agapes ...

The word "agape" comes from the ancient Greek (ἀγαˊπη) meaning 'affection', 'love', or 'devotion'.

It was subsequently borrowed by Christian Latin to denote a 'divine, unconditional love' or 'charity'.

Later, for the early Christians, the "agapae" (or agape) were communal evening meals, often linked to the celebration of love and the Eucharist, in commemoration of the Last Supper.

Nowadays, the word (often used in the plural) is used in a wider sense to describe a convivial and festive meal between friends or companions.
